General Function: Operating metal stamping presses safely to make quality products.

Job Duties:

• Operates industrial equipment and machinery per established operator instructions.
• Places production parts into machine, cycles the equipment, and retrieves the part for placement in the conveyor line, trough, basket, or box.
• Cycles the equipment manually by the two-hand trip, continuous pressure palm buttons, foot pedal, or cycle switch.
• Responsible for visually inspecting parts per specific operator instructions.
• Assures required documentation is completed correctly.
• Keeps department, work area, or shop in good housekeeping order by picking up and discarding waste materials such as cardboard boxes, packing paper, wrappings, metal or plastic banding, broken pallets, and scrap parts.
• Work in a team environment with other employees.
• Performs other incidental and related duties as required and assigned, including projects or assignments to support the plant.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements: The Volvo Operator is a safety-sensitive position working directly with machinery and equipment. Frequent exposure to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment where ambient air temperature can occasionally exceed outside air temperature.

• Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, walk, and stand for extended periods.
• Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 50 pounds when necessary.
• Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl under or over, and frequently climb (stairs).
• Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
• Must be flexible and able to change schedule and hours of work to meet the needs of the organization
• Ability to grasp, hold, place, and safely retrieve stock, parts, and tools while working at a productive pace.

Required Education, Experience & Skills:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED);
• Experience in stamping presses or manufacturing is a plus
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide inches and pounds, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve, and work in a dynamic environment
• Ability to work with and communicate (verbal and written) effectively
• Ability to understand or comprehend written and oral instructions.
