Material Planner

Description:

The Material Planner leads and executes forecasting, planning and purchase orders processing to ensure a timely supply of materials and components required by manufacturing to deliver the established production plans, supporting customer satisfaction and business profitability. To that purpose, the Demand Planner drives daily routines and processes related to kanban, forecasting, purchase orders issuing and tracking, inventory control and verification, suppliers communications and other activities necessary to ensure on time product delivery.

Key Responsibilities:

Material Planning:

  • Lead and execute the forecasting, purchase orders issuing and purchase orders and supply tracking for the assigned supply base and commodities, ensuring zero disruptions on materials and components supply and availability as required by manufacturing plans.
  • Drive continuous and timely communication with suppliers and internal stakeholders to ensure optimal operational execution.
  • Proactively seek improvement of delivery of materials and components, considering total cost of ownership.
  • Identify and execute improvements actions related to cost and inventory optimization, working closely with manufacturing and sourcing.
  • Use data and fact base analysis to ensure effective performance and continuous improvement of the assigned suppliers and commodities.

Manufacturing & Operational Support:

  • Partner with manufacturing and materials teams to ensure material availability and timely resolution of supply related issues.
  • Collaborate closely with quality teams to drive supplier continuous improvement and timely corrective actions execution.

Leadership & Communication:

  • Drive effective cross functional communication and leadership to promote change and continuous improvement.
  • Proactively communicate with suppliers, carriers and relevant third parties to correct, anticipate and prevent supply issues.
Requirements
  • Bachelors degree in engineering, finance, supply chain, business or related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in materials planning, manufacturing or supply chain roles is preferred.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, MRP/ERP systems and inventory management best practices.
  • Problem-solving, analytical, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong assertive communication, ability to positively influence others and drive positive results.
