The Associate Director, Global Trade - Customs, will be responsible for interpreting, executing, establishing and implementing global trade policies and processes. They will ensure consistency of customs practices and guidance to operations sites importing across the Advanced Structures Strategic Business Unit .

As a Leader , you will be responsible for a team that focuses on all aspects of the import and customs process for Advanced Structures , including U.S and non-U.S. sites (EMEA and APAC) regulations. This position will partner closely with business, our Central GT organization and our brokers to drive our Customs program to the next level.

Key Initiatives

  • Program Management of customs initiatives across the Advanced Structures global business locations

  • Implementation of customs processes and standard work

  • Oversight of Duty Mitigation and Customs compliance, focus on new opportunities for cost savings

  • Development of requirements for customs-related IT initiatives

This position may work in a remote capacity ideally located close to one of our Advanced Structure sites. (Miami, San Diego, Dallas/Ft Worth, Riverside/LA)

What You Will Do:

  • Drives strategic analysis and planning efforts, while leading multiple programs/projects ensuring adherence to scope and schedules

  • Work with regional experts to ensure that changes in local Customs requirements are reflected. This will include using metrics to identify gaps and drive closure as well as continued implementation and socialization of our GT policies and procedures.

  • Review and present plans and progress reports to senior/executive leaders

  • Identify and respond to program problems and lead solutions with your team

  • Builds strong and extensive working relationships and networks internally and externally

  • Support investigations and reviews of possible GT escapes and disclosures

  • Travel will be necessary both domestically and internationally

Qualifications You Must Have:

  • Typically requires a university degree and 12 years of prior relevant experience in Global Trade or Customs Management OR an Advanced Degree in a related field and a minimum of 10 years' experience in Global Trade or Customs Management

  • Experience and expertise in U.S. Customs laws and regulations (CBP, EAR, ITAR,etc)

  • Prior experience leading a global trade compliance team

  • Prior experience leading cross-functional projects

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Licensed Customs Broker

  • Experience with US Tariffs and Free Trade Agreements

  • Experience leading executive presentations

  • Experience with EMEA and APAC regional and national regulations on Customs

The salary range for this role is 147,000 USD - 295,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.

RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
