Director of Integrations Engineering

Overview:

Shift4 is expanding globally and seeking an experienced Director of Integrations Engineer to lead our integration efforts in developing seamless, efficient, and scalable software solutions. The ideal candidate will have a robust background in software integration, system architecture, and API development and management experience. This role involves not only technical leadership but also mentoring junior developers and interfacing with stakeholders across the organization to ensure our integration projects meet strategic business goals.

Responsibilities:

• Lead Integration Strategy: Architect and implement integration solutions that align with the business's strategic objectives. Design integration frameworks that enhance system interoperability.
• Project Management: Lead multiple integration projects from conception through deployment. Manage project timelines, resources, and deliverables to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and to quality standards.
• Technical Leadership: Oversee the design, development, and maintenance of integration components like APIs, web services, and middleware. Ensure adherence to best practices in coding, data security, and system integrity. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to a team of engineers, fostering an environment of learning and innovation. Work closely with cross-functional teams including software developers, data architects, business analysts, and external partners to gather requirements and develop solutions. Communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels to align integration efforts with broader business initiatives.
• System Analysis: Analyze existing systems for integration opportunities, identifying areas for improvement or automation.
• Innovation: Stay abreast of emerging technologies, standards, and practices in integration to keep the company at the forefront of technological capabilities.
• Quality Assurance: Develop and enforce quality control procedures for integration projects. Conduct code reviews, participate in testing, and ensure that all integrations are scalable, reliable, and maintainable.
• Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex integration issues, ensuring minimal disruption to business processes.

Qualifications:

• 10+ years in API integrations or a related discipline.
• 3+ years of management experience.
• Proven track record in leading integration projects with full lifecycle experience.
• Proficiency in integration technologies like Mulesoft, API Gateway, and ETL tools.
• Strong experience with programming languages such as Node JS, Python, Golang, etc.
• Familiarity with cloud services (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and microservices architecture.
• Deep understanding of RESTful APIs, SOAP, JSON, XML, and other data exchange formats.
• Demonstrated leadership skills with the ability to lead and inspire a team.
• Excellent problem-solving abilities, analytical mind, and attention to detail.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to translate technical details into business terms.
• Certifications (nice to have): Certifications like TOGAF, AWS Certified Solutions Architect, or equivalent.
• BS or MS in Computer Science, Information Systems or a related field - experience in lieu of a degree may be considered.
